Vicky Welsman-Millard

Founder | Operational Manager,  Blossom & Bloom

Moved by witnessing the challenges faced by mothers with young babies in her hometown of Rhyl, Vicky decided to make a change and offer women sanctuary when they needed it most.

Vicky has a vast amount of experience supporting vulnerable families, and tired of seeing young families struggle she decided to make a change. Using her wealth of knowledge to make a difference she developed a program to encourage women through the challenges they face bringing up a family in Rhyl.

Vicky’s has had a vast professional career that has led to the success of Blossom & Bloom. She is qualified as an accounting technician having held a career in finance and accounting for a public body. Working as a police response officer for North Wales Police gave great understanding of the community and what support was needed. Combined with experience as a community house manager for a housing association and many years working on the ground as a support worker for vulnerable families within the supported housing sector.  All the experience she gained now goes straight into running the charity. She is a hands-on mum figure, with grandchildren, and her passion to help support women to get over hurdles motherhood brings has changed many lives for the better.

The charity came about in May 2020, alongside her husband Lee, Vicky provided emergency temporary accommodation to homeless mums and babies (under 1) from her Bed & Breakfast business in Rhyl.

The Blossom & Bloom charity was soon opened offering support, guidance, education and of course tonnes of kindness to any mums and babies.

Love life, be kind, offer support, and always take time for others is Vicky’s mantra.

Joanne Garratt

Well-being Hub Coordinator

Apart from Joanne adoring babies as much as one person can, she is qualified childcare practitioner with over 20 years experience working with mothers and children in Rhyl and Prestatyn.

From the baby room, to 2 to 3-year-olds and the Flying Start children, Joanne is known for her ability to understand and share the feelings of the families she supports. It is a standing joke that often mums with now grown-up children, still keep in touch.

Joanne joined Blossom & Bloom in August 2020 and her experience has played a major part in the development of the charity, initially joining as a trustee and then accepting an employed role.
